WANT VOLUNTEER HOURS? Looking to make a positive difference in your community? Frontier College (www.frontiercollege.ca) has been on the forefront of literacy in Canada for more than 100 years and continues to be a leader, reaching out to people and responding to their learning needs at the so-called ‘frontiers’, namely settlement organizations, mining camps, rural aboriginal areas, homeless shelters, prison centers, inner city community centers, schools, and libraries. We offer literacy supports to vulnerable children, youth and adults at 25 locations in Edmonton, as well as employment preparation services for Edmonton’s homeless individuals.
We have volunteer opportunities and paid SCiP (www.joinscip.ca) internships available. Our programs are all across Edmonton! We have daytime, evening and weekend programs seven days per week throughout the year, flexible time commitments from as low as one hour per week, and flexible start and end dates. You can work with children, youth, or adults from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds! And you even get time off during exam weeks in December and April! Visit our Facebook Page: "Students for Literacy"(https://www.facebook.com/studentsforliteracyedmonton?fref=ts) for full details on all our programs! For more info or to apply, please call us at (780) 487-4787, or e-mail edmonton@frontiercollege.ca . Application processing takes 4 weeks from the day you apply, so apply early! We need your talents!
